Full Moon Circle :: Reflection, Ritual, Rest with Cathy French and Jess Bell

With every ending in life comes a mighty release. This is the energy that accompanies each full moon as the cycle reaches its peak, alive in its fullness.

This full moon in Aries accompanies with it an impulsive, fiery quality that may influence us to be reactive in our communications. We may find a stronger desire for space and the freedom to more fully express ourselves with maturity.

In this women's gathering Jess Bell and Cathy French will guide us in a space of considered, calm expression.  Jess will guide us through meditation and movement that will awaken clear communication and strengthen our personal vision.  Cathy will share astrology insights and lead a soothing Yoga Nidra to assist in calming our fiery impulses.

Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a journal and pen.  You are welcome to bring any sacred item for our altar.

Sunday, September 23rd

7pm- 9.30pm

$20 before Sept. 19th/$25 after

You can register by paying Jess, Cathy or Suzanne in cash/check at class or you can pay with PayPal here.

Jess and Cathy both have deep love for holding space for women in their paths of expansion and growth.

Cathy is passionate about serving the needs of women through her teaching and healing work. She can't get enough of creating sacred space and believes that gathering in circle is a forgotten but vital element of human life.

From a young age, Jess remembers always having influential women in her life. Growing up with her mom's three sisters, a loving stepmother, female friends both older and younger, she feels her life is a reflection of womanly love and wisdom passed down from many. Creating a new home here in the redwoods, it became clear the desire for meaningful, supportive and nourishing women was calling. She is delighted to bring sisters together through an intentional and continual space at Tosha.

Harness the Power of Your Teaching Voice: A Workshop for Yoga Teachers with Lori Snyder

As yoga teachers, much of how we hold space for transformation has to do with how we use our voices, what words we choose, and what we say. If you’re looking to empower your teaching voice, these two hours will help you do just that. You will learn and practice ways to use your voice and your own words in order to both communicate clearly and give your students an extraordinary experience. Open to all yoga teachers of any style. Please bring a notebook, pen, and mat, and wear yoga clothes. If you have specific questions relating to voice, feel free email them in advance to lori@lorisnyderyoga.com

About Lori: Enamored with how yoga can remind us of who we most truly are, Lori infuses her classes with a heartfelt joy for being alive, intelligent sequencing, philosophies of kindness, and eclectic, soaring soundtracks. She has studied with her primary teacher, Max Strom, since 1996, has also trained with Erich Schiffmann and Sherry Brourman, and is happily indebted to her first teacher, Steve Ross, for showing her you were allowed to turn up the music and laugh during yoga. She now teaches at Yoga Nest Venice and, occasionally, up in Arcata when she goes to visit. In the rest of her life, Lori is a fiction writer with an MPA (Masters of Professional Writing) from USC. She has studied ballroom, jazz, Brazilian and West African dance, worked as a marine biologist and expedition leader on a boat, booked music and slung coffee in a Hollywood coffeehouse/nightclub, and taught science and language arts (the subject formerly known as English) to countless kids. Down the Path :: Exploring Patanjali’s Yoga through the Journey of the Yamas with Amy Day

It isn't by getting out of the world that we become enlightened, but by getting into the world…by getting so tuned in that we can ride the waves of our existence and never get tossed because we become the waves.

― Ken Kesey

At this point, many of us are pretty well-versed in the physical side of yoga, and we may even have experienced some of what it feels like to be more at home, more at ease, and more empowered in our bodies and minds. But what would it feel like if we extended that ease, power, and potency into the fabric of our daily lives?

What does it mean to LIVE like a yogi - not just sweat like one?

How do we begin to embody ideas like "non-violence" and "non-attachment" and living our truth? How do we do the work of taking our practice off the mat and into the world?

Join yoga teacher, writer, mother, and activist Amy Day on an inquiry into the classical observances of Patanjali's yoga.  Patanjali's yoga is an important part of the historical fabric that stands behind what most of us practice today. Together, we will spend time excavating these concepts - through movement, breath, and discussion, plus tools to further practice and embody this work in our day-to-day lives.

Leave this series with a deeper understanding and appreciation of this element of the rich lineage of yoga along with the inspiration and guidance to take this wealth of knowledge into your life.

Sundays beginning October 13th - November 17th

2:00-4:00
