Enamored with how yoga can remind us of who we most truly are, Lori infuses her classes with a heartfelt joy for being alive, intelligent sequencing, philosophies of kindness, and eclectic, soaring soundtracks. She has studied with her primary teacher, Max Strom, since 1996, has also trained with Erich Schiffmann and Sherry Brourman, and is happily indebted to her first teacher, Steve Ross, for showing her you were allowed to turn up the music and laugh during yoga. She now teaches at Yoga Nest Venice and, occasionally, up in Arcata when she goes to visit. In the rest of her life, Lori is a fiction writer with an MPA (Masters of Professional Writing) from USC. She has studied ballroom, jazz, Brazilian and West African dance, worked as a marine biologist and expedition leader on a boat, booked music and slung coffee in a Hollywood coffeehouse/nightclub, and taught science and language arts (the subject formerly known as English) to countless kids. She co-founded Om Shala Yoga in Arcata and is the present founder of Yoga:edit, offering editing services for the yoga community.

Workshops with Max Strom

Max Strom is a global teacher, speaker, author, and trainer, and is known for profoundly inspiring and impacting the lives of his students for over two decades. Many of you know him from his inspiring book, A Life Worth Breathing, which is now published in five languages, and his recent book, There is No APP for Happiness. His system, Inner Axis, is a system of field-tested techniques that are a synthesis of yoga, qi gong, and movement therapy. But his teachings are not limited by contemporary yoga culture, and instead they are known to reach the heart of people from all walks of life. His lectures include a philosophy for real world living, and personal growth that is meaningful to both the student and their family.  A dynamic speaker, he has presented three TEDx events, a keynote speech on ethics in business at a Fortune 500 Corporation, a talk at The Singularity University. Most recently, he spoke at the first Wellness Symposium in Saudi Arabia and the World Government Summit in Dubai.

((Note: Max includes breath-work in ALL of his workshops.))
