Enamored with how yoga can remind us of who we most truly are, Lori infuses her classes with a heartfelt joy for being alive, intelligent sequencing, philosophies of kindness, and eclectic, soaring soundtracks. She has studied with her primary teacher, Max Strom, since 1996, has also trained with Erich Schiffmann and Sherry Brourman, and is happily indebted to her first teacher, Steve Ross, for showing her you were allowed to turn up the music and laugh during yoga. She now teaches at Yoga Nest Venice and, occasionally, up in Arcata when she goes to visit. In the rest of her life, Lori is a fiction writer with an MPA (Masters of Professional Writing) from USC. She has studied ballroom, jazz, Brazilian and West African dance, worked as a marine biologist and expedition leader on a boat, booked music and slung coffee in a Hollywood coffeehouse/nightclub, and taught science and language arts (the subject formerly known as English) to countless kids. She co-founded Om Shala Yoga in Arcata and is the present founder of Yoga:edit, offering editing services for the yoga community.

A two-hour workshop for adults who want to connect with the vibrancy of their body and their sense of play. This practice is an ongoing investigation on how to stay true to our inner landscape while responding to the environment through movement. We will cultivate clear perception through the senses to respond effectively to inner and outer stimuli.
Starting with the breath, we will then move on to basic actions (lying down, sitting, getting up, squatting, kneeling, crawling, walking, jumping). Connecting with our own way of moving allows for greater access to creativity, health, and wellbeing.
Once grounded in our own body and movement, we engage with partner(s) to practice availability, responsiveness and spatial awareness through play in the space. Please, dress comfortably. Bring a water bottle and your desire to play like a kid! All bodies and level of experience welcome.
You can pay with Paypal here or by mailing a check to Tosha Yoga PO 645 Arcata 95518

Explore three luxurious doorways into stillness: mindful tea ceremony, facial self-massage with herbal infused oil, and singing bowl sound healing. Each of these gateways support our bodies and nervous system to relax so we are prepared to listen intently to the wisdom that arises naturally from a sacred pause.
After enjoying ourselves and finding pleasure in the senses, we will set Magical Intentions for the New Year!

"Ar scáth a chéile a mhaireann na daoine" is an Irish saying that translates literally as "people live in each others shadows". Meaning, we rely on each other for shelter.
On December 22nd, the darkest time of the year, the full moon will be at home in heartfelt Cancer. Our receptivity is enhanced, our insight magnified for conscious intention setting.

As yoga teachers, much of how we hold space for transformation has to do with how we use our voices, what words we choose, and what we say. If you’re looking to empower your teaching voice, these two hours will help you do just that. You will learn and practice ways to use your voice and your own words in order to both communicate clearly and give your students an extraordinary experience. Open to all yoga teachers of any style. Please bring a notebook, pen, and mat, and wear yoga clothes. If you have specific questions relating to voice, feel free email them in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Saturday October 13th from 2:00-4:00

With every ending in life comes a mighty release. This is the energy that accompanies each full moon as the cycle reaches its peak, alive in its fullness.
This full moon in Aries accompanies with it an impulsive, fiery quality that may influence us to be reactive in our communications. We may find a stronger desire for space and the freedom to more fully express ourselves with maturity.
In this women's gathering Jess Bell and Cathy French will guide us in a space of considered, calm expression. Jess will guide us through meditation and movement that will awaken clear communication and strengthen our personal vision. Cathy will share astrology insights and lead a soothing Yoga Nidra to assist in calming our fiery impulses.
Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a journal and pen. You are welcome to bring any sacred item for our altar.

Jess and Cathy both have deep love for holding space for women in their paths of expansion and growth.
Cathy is passionate about serving the needs of women through her teaching and healing work. She can't get enough of creating sacred space and believes that gathering in circle is a forgotten but vital element of human life.
From a young age, Jess remembers always having influential women in her life. Growing up with her mom's three sisters, a loving stepmother, female friends both older and younger, she feels her life is a reflection of womanly love and wisdom passed down from many. Creating a new home here in the redwoods, it became clear the desire for meaningful, supportive and nourishing women was calling. She is delighted to bring sisters together through an intentional and continual space at Tosha.
