This is a committed five-week program in which to deepen your connection to yoga by establishing a nourishing and sustainable home practice. Through movement, chanting, breath, and guided forms of meditation we will create the empowering container of practice that leads to growth.
Establishing a home practice is challenging- the distractions are endless and it’s easy to become discouraged. But for most people- the rewards for a home practice are well worth the effort- it brings a resiliency and depth and will literally transform your sense of your self as you align with more energy and strength.
Spring is the ideal time to begin moving the body more and supporting it’s processes of detoxification.
This program is focused on clearing out distractions and obstructions to our most essential and meaningful life. To focus our efforts and unearth buried parts of ourselves we will follow the guidance of the metaphor of the Koshas. Kosha means "sheath" in Sanskrit. In yoga, the term is used to describe metaphorical layers within the human body- consisting of layers such as the physical, the mental, the emotional etc. The koshas are often likened to Russian nesting dolls or the layers of an onion.
A sādhanā is a set period of heightened intensity of practice- it’s essentially stepping up our game for the purpose of growth. Through the five weeks of this sādhanā we will journey through the five koshas within ourselves while developing the routine of a morning practice.
The first part of the class will be a yoga sequence with the focused aim of supporting detoxification. We will build heat in the body and move the lymph and blood- with a focus on twists and stimulation to the organs of elimination.
After the physical yoga or asana we will practice breathwork and meditation practices to support mental detoxification and clarity.
The final portion of the class will be planning and visualizing your week ahead- getting recipes, setting goals and creating a realistic plan for how to incorporate the tools gained into your life in a realistic and enjoyable way.
