Mallorca Yoga Retreat

Mallorca…

all of the best of the Mediterranean - crystalline water, rich cheeses, the sound of cicadas in olive trees, a sense that there is absolutely nowhere else you need to be- combined with the magical seclusion, and slower pace of an island.

The perfect oasis for a deep dive into yoga together.

What a gift.

We are going in June... I hope you can come.

I landed in Mallorca a few years ago and was breath-taken.

I expected the Spain I knew I loved- the old stone under my feet, the beauty in the craftsmanship of everything, and the way life is oriented around meals together.

I also expected the stress, forcefulness, and overwhelm I also often find in Spain.

But I quickly (and I mean within an hour of stepping off the plane) exhaled such a deep sigh of relief, and then fell about becoming quite obsessed with this island.

Old world Europe still rules here- not pushed out by giant freeways or outlet malls.

The pace of life is slow and gentle. The focus is the sea and good food.

Something softer than mainland Spain governs here - something more feminine.

The island is covered in food -olives, citrus and magical gardens of bougainvillea and hibiscus.

Mallorca was occupied by the Moors in the Middle Ages- and much of their enchanting culture is the bedrock of Mallorca- so there is an allure beyond, and something so different than Spain here.

I spent a week here.

And I don’t know if I’ve ever been so deeply satisfied in my life.

The island, warm air seemed to uplift my yoga practice. And the simplicity of life in the lush garden was what my bones have always longed for.

So I’ve been dreaming about this.

The possibility of going back with a group and sharing this oasis.

But it had to be right. Peak summer is too hot and crowded and winter is - well, winter.

After waiting patiently, I am THRILLED the retreat center I fell in love with finally had an opening for us at the right time!

June is the PERFECT time to go to to the island- the throngs of Danish tourists haven’t descended for their summer holiday, and yet nights and days are warm and delightful.

I only take people on retreats to places that I already know are special. It would feel wrong to do otherwise.

And Maria- the creator of Sanau has poured her heart into this creation- it is her life’s work, and your heart can feel it.

The old thick stone of the yoga shala surrounded by the lush gardens hold us in coolness while we practice.

Deepen your practice, strengthen your heart.

Where we are matters, and our soul needs us to journey.

Mallorca is known for their apricots and June is peak harvest- and while they haven’t yet announced dates- we will likely be there for the Apricot festival. (If you haven’t had the fruit of the Mediterranean- I promise you these are NOTHING like the apricots we have here)

Beyond the apricots, the olives, wine, bread, and seafood of this island is heavenly.

If you have time, a few extra days in Palma de Mallorca (the main city)- is WONDERFUL for getting over jetlag and soaking in Mallorcan culture before we dive into our retreat together.

Mallorca is known for its craft- its woven palm baskets, its earthen pottery, its colorful textiles. I LOVE pouring through the markets here- pausing for prawns in garlic and a cold fizzy drink.

“And that’s why I have to go back to so many places there to find myself and constantly examine myself with no witness but the moon and then whistle with joy, ambling over rocks and clods of earth, with no task but to live, with no family but the road.” - Pablo Neruda
