Our voice is a pathway to the golden heart within.

Exploring our voice allows us to explore inner caves and closets never before entered- and encounter within them the veins of ore that carry the echos of our ancestors, as well as the resonance that creates a path to the future through the hungry world.

In other words- the voice gives us the past and it gives us the future. It gives us the eternal.

And for each of us, the voice is unique and mysterious. And in that mystery can be sharp glaciers of fear and shame and guilt. At the doors of the inner caves are often guardians that have to be befriended - which is why exploring with others is helpful.

Kirtan is the tradition of yogic chanting- a group experience of sounding our unique voices in the safety of a herd of voices. The root derives from the Sanskrit ‘kirt’ (कीर्त्), meaning ‘to name’, or ‘celebrate’. The mantras are formulas. They are chanted “to” - Shiva, Ganesh, Lakshmi etc. ; but they each reference wisdom that are like the jewels of the inner caves.

We will start by opening the throat with some gentle movement and from there Suzanne will share a few simple mantras with you along with some of the reasons why we chant.

We will close with some tea and sharing.

This is open to all. Befriending your voice is befriending the wild within you. Come.
